Bienvenidos al sitio de comunicación de la Iglesia Católica San Juan Bautista.
Durante el año, recibirán mensajes de texto y avisos con información importante sobre nuestros programas de Catecismo y Confirmación. Estos mensajes incluirán anuncios, horarios, reuniones, retiros y otras noticias importantes.

En este momento, me gustaría hablar con los padres de los estudiantes de preparatoria que están en el 1er Año de Confirmación y que tienen horarios muy ocupados o muchas actividades fuera de la escuela. Para estos estudiantes, el programa de Estudios Independientes puede ser una mejor opción. Este programa está disponible solamente para los estudiantes de 1er Año de Confirmación.
Si está interesado en los Estudios Independientes, por favor visite la oficina de la iglesia y anote el nombre de su estudiante en la lista de interés.
Por favor tome en cuenta que los Estudios Independientes requieren más responsabilidad y compromiso. Como los estudiantes no tienen un maestro cada semana, deben completar mucho trabajo por su cuenta. Los estudiantes se reúnen una vez al mes para entregar tareas, recibir nuevo material y tomar exámenes cortos cuando sea necesario. También deben tomar un examen final al terminar el año.
Antes de escoger esta opción, por favor hable con su estudiante para asegurarse de que los Estudios Independientes son la mejor opción para él o ella. El espacio es limitado y solamente hay 18 lugares disponibles.

Welcome to the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church communication website.
Throughout the year, you will receive text messages and alerts with important information regarding our Catechism and Confirmation programs, including announcements, schedules, meetings, retreats, and other important updates.
When you receive a message with a link, please click on it to visit the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church website. There you will find updated information for both our Confirmation and First Communion students and families.
At this time, I would like to ask parents of high school (1st Year-Confirmation students) with busy schedules and multiple extracurricular activities to consider whether the Independent Study program may be a better option. Independent Study is available only for 1st Year Confirmation students.
If you are interested in Independent Study, please visit the church office and sign the interest list indicating that your student would prefer Independent Study rather than attending weekly classes.
Please note: that Independent Study requires a greater level of responsibility and commitment. Because students do not have a weekly classroom teacher, they are expected to complete a significant amount of work on their own. Students meet only once a month to submit assignments, receive new materials, and take any scheduled quizzes. They are also required to complete a final examination at the end of the year.
Before choosing this option, please discuss it carefully with your high school student to ensure that Independent Study is the best fit for them. Seating is limited, and only 18 spaces are available in the Independent Study program.
Please be aware that once a student is enrolled in Independent Study, they will not be able to transfer back into a classroom setting later in the year. Due to limited classroom space, we maintain a waiting list of students seeking placement in our regular classes.

If you have not yet gone to Confession, I encourage you to attend this Friday at 5:30 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity to prepare your heart to receive the Holy Eucharist on Saturday.

Instructions for Confirmation Students – June 20, 2026
Confirmation Practice
Confirmation students and their sponsors are required to attend one practice session only.
Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 6:00 PM in the church.
ORTuesday, June 16, 2026 at 6:00 PM in the church.
Sponsors should attend with the student, as they will receive instructions on how they will present the Confirmation candidate to the Bishop during the ceremony.
Confessions for Confirmation Students and Sponsors
Confession will be available on the following Fridays at 5:30 PM:

Friday, June 19, 2026
Please do not wait until the last day to go to confession. Parents, please remind sponsors that they are expected to receive the Eucharist with the Confirmation student during the ceremony. In order to receive the Eucharist, they must first go to confession if needed. Sponsors serve as role models for our newly confirmed students.
Suggested Dress Attire
Please remember that Confirmation is a sacred and reverent celebration. Students and sponsors should dress respectfully and appropriately for the occasion.
Boys
Long-sleeve white dress shirt
Please no jeans, Dickies pants, or black tennis shoes with white soles.
Girls
White or red dress
Skirt or ivory-colored dress pants
Please no sleeveless tops, backless dresses, low-cut dresses, mini skirts, or tight-fitting attire.
Sponsors’ Attire
Sponsors may choose their own attire, but it must be respectful and appropriate for church. Men are encouraged to wear a dress shirt and tie, with a blazer or sweater vest if preferred.
Please speak with the sponsors ahead of time regarding what they plan to wear. Unfortunately, at a recent adult Confirmation ceremony, a few sponsors arrived wearing torn jeans and inappropriate tops, which were not suitable for this sacred occasion. It is very important that sponsors help maintain the reverence and dignity of the ceremony. We would prefer not to replace a sponsor due to inappropriate attire.
Confirmation Ceremony – June 20, 2026
There will be two Confirmation Masses:
10:00 AM Mass
Students and sponsors must arrive by 9:00 AM in the church hall.
Students and sponsors must arrive by 11:00 AM in the church hall.
Arriving early will allow time for parking, check-in, seating arrangements, and final instructions before the ceremony begins.

• Todos los candidatos de Confirmación para Adultos deben llegar mañana a las 9:30 AM al salón de la iglesia. Good morning, Adult Confirmation Candidates,
A few important reminders as we prepare for tomorrow’s beautiful celebration:
• Confessions will be today at 5:30 PM. This will be one final opportunity for both you and your sponsor to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation before Confirmation. Please arrive on time. We will have three priests available to hear confessions. Please encourage your sponsor to attend as well, so they may fully participate and receive Our Lord alongside you during the Mass.
• All Adult Confirmation Candidates should arrive tomorrow at 9:30 AM in the church hall. This will give everyone enough time to find parking, check in, and receive final instructions for both candidates and sponsors before the ceremony begins at 10:30 AM. We are expecting a large crowd, so arriving early will be very helpful.
• I would also like to encourage everyone to thank Father Rodriguez for making this special Confirmation celebration possible here at St. John the Baptist Church. Father requested special faculties from the Bishop so that our entire group could celebrate together in our own parish. Without this arrangement, part of the group would have needed to travel to Aptos, CA, and the other part to San Luis Obispo, CA. Because of Father’s efforts, we are blessed to celebrate this important day together with our families and parish community here at home.
We look forward to celebrating this very special occasion with all of you tomorrow. May God continue to bless you as you prepare to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Esperamos que ustedes y sus familias estén bien. Si no pudieron registrar a su hijo(a) para Segundo Año de Primera Comunión, Confirmación u OCIA para Niños, todavía podrán registrarlo del 1 al 5 de junio, de 9:00 AM a 4:30 PM en el Salón de la Iglesia. También estaremos abiertos durante la hora del almuerzo.
Por favor recuerden:
• Los estudiantes que solo necesitan registrarse para el segundo año no necesitan traer documentos. Solo deben venir y pagar la cuota de inscripción.
• Primera Comunión (1er año): traer una copia del certificado de Bautismo.
• Confirmación (1er año): traer una copia del certificado de Bautismo y del certificado de Primera Comunión.
También queremos recordarles que los estudiantes de Segundo Año de Primera Comunión y Confirmación recibieron tarjetas blancas de Misa para ayudarles a seguir asistiendo a Misa durante el verano en la Iglesia San Juan.
Aunque no hay clases de catecismo en este momento, seguir asistiendo a Misa es muy importante para ayudar a los niños a aprender más sobre su fe y conocer mejor las oraciones y la Misa. Les animamos a seguir asistiendo a Misa en familia cuando sea posible.

We hope you and your families are doing well. If you were unable to register your child for Second Year First Communion, Confirmation, or the OCIA-Children’s Program, registration will still be available June 1st–5th from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM in the Church Hall. We will remain open during the lunch hour for your convenience.
Please note:
• Students registering only for the second year do not need additional documents. Simply come and pay the registration fee.
• First Year First Communion: bring a copy of the child’s Baptismal Certificate.
• First Year Confirmation: bring copies of the child’s Baptismal Certificate and First Communion Certificate.
We would also like to remind families that students currently in Second Year First Communion and Confirmation received white Mass cards to encourage summer Mass participation at St. John’s Church.
Even though catechism classes are on break, attending Mass regularly remains very important in helping children grow in their faith and become familiar with the prayers and meaning of the Mass. We kindly encourage families to continue attending Mass together whenever possible.
Mass cards may be picked up:
• Parish Office: 9:00 AM–12:00 noon
• Catechism Office: 1:00 PM–5:00 PM

If you are unable to attend tonight, I would recommend going to Holy Trinity Church in Greenfield, where Confessions are offered on Thursdays from 5:00 PM–6:00 PM.
There will also be Confessions on Friday, May 22 at 5:30 PM; however, there is no guarantee that multiple priests will be available that evening. If at all possible, I strongly encourage everyone to come tonight, May 15, at 5:30 PM. So, please inform your sponsor.

Recordatorios para los candidatos de Confirmación de OCIA Adultos:
• Práctica de Confirmación: La práctica con su padrino o madrina será el miércoles 13 de mayo a las 6:00 PM en la iglesia. Por favor llegue a tiempo.
• Confesiones para Candidatos: Las confesiones serán los viernes 8, 15 y 22 de mayo, comenzando a las 6:00 PM para candidatos de OCIA.
• Ceremonia de Confirmación: La Misa de Confirmación será el sábado 23 de mayo de 2026 a las 10:30 AM. Los candidatos y sus padrinosdeben llegar una hora antes, a las 9:30 AM, al salón parroquial para registrarse y saber dónde sentarse. • Confirmation Practice: Practice with your sponsor will take place on Wednesday, May 13th at 6:00 PM in the church. Please arrive on time.
• Confessions for Candidates: Confessions will be held on Fridays—May 8th, May 15th, and May 22nd—beginning at 6:00 PM for OCIA candidates.
• Confirmation Ceremony: The Confirmation Mass will be on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 10:30 AM. Candidates and sponsors must arrive one hour early, at 9:30 AM, in the church hall to check in and receive seating instructions. Early arrival is important due to limited parking and to allow time for your family to find seating. We will have approximately 30 candidates being confirmed, so a large attendance is expected.
• Suggested Attire:
Men: Black dress shoes, black slacks, white long-sleeve shirt, and a red tie or bow tie.
Women: A red dress (with some white), or a white dress with a red sweater or shawl.

Anuncios para CATEQUISTAS el 24 de Abril, (English Announcments for CATECHISTS to follow Below.)
Buenos días, Catequistas:
Espero que se encuentren bien. Les escribo para pedir su ayuda con un Campamento de Catecismo de Verano. Estamos buscando 3–4 catequistas que puedan enseñar un día a la semana por dos horas, con un grupo de 20–25 niños.
Este programa se enfocará en enseñar oraciones y ayudar a los niños a entender la Misa. También tendremos actividades como manualidades para ayudar a los niños a aprender mejor. Por ejemplo, harán rosarios, pintarán y aprenderán cómo rezar el Rosario para recordar mejor sus oraciones.
El propósito de este programa es ayudar a niños de 7–8 años que están listos para empezar el catecismo. El programa está planeado, por ahora, del 9 de junio al 4 de agosto, con aproximadamente 18 días de clase. Esto nos dará tiempo para enseñar oraciones básicas y aprender sobre la Misa. Al terminar, los niños podrán inscribirse en el segundo año del programa 2026–2027.
Si usted puede ayudar unas horas una vez a la semana, se lo agradecería mucho. Quiero formar un equipo antes de presentar este campamento a la parroquia. Sus ideas y sugerencias son muy importantes. Queremos que sea una experiencia alegre para nuestros niños.

Good morning, Catechists,
I am reaching out to ask for your support. We are looking for 3–4 catechists who would be willing to teach a Summer Catechism camp one day per week for two hours for approximately 20 to 25 students.
This program will focus primarily on teaching prayers and helping children understand the Mass. We will also incorporate arts and crafts to support visual learning—such as making rosaries, painting, and guiding children in how to pray the Rosary to help them better retain their prayers.
The goal of this pilot program is to serve children ages 7–8 whose parents feel they are ready to begin their catechetical journey. The program is tentatively scheduled from June 9 through August 4, providing approximately 18 instructional days. This will give us meaningful time to focus on foundational prayers and a deeper understanding of the Mass. Upon completion, students will be eligible to enroll in the second year for the 2026–2027 catechetical year.
If you are able to dedicate a few hours once a week, I would truly appreciate your help. I hope to form a team before introducing this pilot Catechism Camp to the parish. Your input, ideas, and recommendations are very important, as we want to create a joyful and enriching experience for our young learners.
